The exploits of Rayful Edmond, who introduced crack to Washington DC in the 80s and contributed to the city's notorious moniker of "murder capital of the world," have been immortalized in tracks by JAY-Z and Rick Ross.

At his height as a kingpin, Edmond was making $300 million a year and employed 150 people.

The 54-year-old was sentenced by the Feds to life without parole in 1990 and then picked up another 30 years for dealing from the inside.

He turned government informant some time ago and is being held at an undisclosed location. Earlier this year, The U.S. Attorney's Office in D.C. filed a motion to reduce his sentence, citing testimony and information he gave on narcotics and homicide cases between 1997 and 2014.

The Washington Post is now reporting that Edmond's lawyers are asking for time served. If he does get out, he'll likely be released into the witness protection program.
