At 72, Aretha Franklin doesn't quite have the pipes she once did. There's no denying that. But the Queen of Soul can still belt out with the best of them.
Last night, Franklin was on the Late Show With David Letterman to promote her album ‘Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics.’ Adele's soaring "Rolling in the Deep" is one of those classics, and Franklin did a live version for the national audience. (If you think you recognize one of the background singers, it's probably because its Cissy Houston, Whitney's mom.)
There has been Twitter chatter that the Aretha was being auto-tuned during the performance, but it was probably just a glitch in the YouTube video.
Technical issues aside, how do you think Aretha measures up to Adele's tour-de-force original? (And do you think Adele will be sounding as good Aretha when she's 72?)
Since we respect our elders we're just going to stay mum on the music legend's dress.
