Ashanti Concert Was Canceled Because Almost Nobody Bought Tickets

Ashanti was supposed to perform at Stony Brook University’s Back To Brook event next week. But she won't be doing that anymore, because just about nobody at the Long Island, New York college wanted to come.

The school's concert board released this statement about the cancelation.

"As an organization, we do our best to host programs for students while providing diversity and inclusion. However, we have struggled to execute certain aspects. With only a week before the concert, only 24 tickets were sold to students."

Ashanti may have been set up for failure here.  The 38-year old, who peaked career-wise more than a decade ago, is a bit old for college students. Plus, the event's first headliner, Teyana Taylor, had pulled out last week. (Although she wasn't exactly sparking big ticket sales either.)

Well, at least Ashanti still has some of this:
