Benzino Says Says His Drug Arrest Was Fueled By Racism

Benzino said that racism is behind his current legal situation.

Yesterday we reported that the 53-year-old is facing 15 years in prison for a January 2017 arrest. He he was charged with felony possession of THC oils, gummies, 6 MDMA pills and possession of marijuana.

"I can't talk too much about it," Benzino told TMZ. "It's in Cobb County, Ga. Cobb County, Ga. is one of the most racist counties, not just in Georgia but in America."

Benzino — who was also once arrested for trying to bring a gun on a plane — then explained what happened on the day of his arrest, and it turns out the cops had a warrant to bust his neighbor, who already moved out. But when the cops were there, they smelled weed coming out of Benzino's apartment so they left, got another warrant and returned six hours later with about 20 officers.

"When they came in they said they found a roach, and they found a gummy bear," the Boston native explained. "The first offer was do 18 weekends in jail. I turned that down. The next offer was unsupervised probation. No, we're going to trial. And how did they go from 18 weeks to unsupervised probation? You know how? Because they don't have a case. And they're used to screwing people over who can't get their own lawyer ... and who are ignorant to the system ... I'm going to trial, I'm going to be exonerated, then I'm going to sue them."
