Baseball player turned label exec Carl Crawford label signed Megan Thee Stallion to his 1501 label after he learned about her on social media. Soon after he entered into a partnership deal with 300, bringing Meg with him

Megan's label status came into further question last month when she signed a management deal with JAY-Z and Roc Nation.

In an interview with Dirty Glove Bastard, Crawford admitted he didn't know about the Roc deal until it was announced.

"Unfortunately, for whatever reason, I wasn't in tune with it," he said, chalking the blindside up to the brutality of the music industry.

According to Crawford, Meg's management deal doesn't affect their label deal. But here's where things get interesting. The same day Meg announced she was with Roc Nation Crawford and Rap-a-Lot boss J Prince posted on social that they had entered into a partnership with Prince suggesting he would protect his Houston homie.

The music business is a business filled with sharks and cut throat people. In his chat with Dirty Glove Bastard, Crawford said the timing of the post was just a coincidence.  But he conceded that he linked up with Prince because he felt like industry forces were coming after him. 

"I teamed up with a stronger partner to keep 1501 going," he said.

Furthermore, his business partner T Farris -- who had been Meg's manager -- left 1501 for "greener pastures" about when Meg jumped to Roc Nation, leaving Crawford disappointed and shaking his head at the industry once again.
