Aaliyah died in 2001 when the small plane carrying her and eight others from the Bahamas to Florida crashed. They had arrived in the Bahamas to shoot the video for 'Rock the Boat' in a larger aircraft, and there had been concerns upon takeoff about loading everybody into a smaller plane.
The 22-year old was dating Damon Dash at the time, and he believes if he had been in the Bahamas for the shoot Aaliyah would still be alive.
"There is no chance that, if I was there, we would have been on that plane," Dame said during an interview with The Real, "So it would have never happened that way." "If I was there I would have made sure that that jet that supposed to be for her, the [bigger] G4. I wouldn't have got on that [smaller] plane, you know what I'm saying? So it probably would have been different. But you know, everything happens for a reason."Dash also said that Aaliyah had misgivings about the plane and the trip in general. Check out the interview.
