D'Angelo Russell Won't Be a Warrior For Long

One of the biggest surprises of a blockbuster first day of NBA free agency was the Golden State Warriors signing former Nets guard and forever snitch D'Angelo Russell to a four years and $117 million deal.

D'Angelo wouldn't seem to be a good fit with Steph Curry, and what would Golden State do in 2020 when Klay Thompson (who they resigned for the max) comes back?

Alas, these are not questions that will need answers. It turns out Golden State only took on Russell contract as a way of getting something back for Kevin Durant going over to Brooklyn.

Golden State can't trade Russell until December 15. Russell had been tied to Minnesota and his original team, the Lakers.  He may still be headed to one of those destinations.
