Dave Chappelle was in Austin, Texas last month to do a series of "socially-distant" live shows.

He was staying at the Four Seasons hotel, where he got into an altercation with a group of people who were at an engagement party over mask-wearing.

One of the members of the group approached Chappelle's table without a mask.  Dave and his crew told her to get away.

Chad Laboy, who is the groom to be, explained what happened to Daily Mail TV.

"She apologized and offered to put her mask on, but continued to get berated. No one at their table was wearing a mask, but the group was extremely rude, saying things like, 'we don't know you', 'get the f**k away', and began calling her names."

Things escalated when Laboy's fiancee yelled back at Chappelle's group.  Laboy says Dave was mostly trying to deescalate the situation, but that the comedian's friends were very aggressive. 

He also called out Chappelle for approaching them without a mask.

"Shame on you Dave Chappelle," Laboy said. "You ruined my engagement.  It should have been one of the most happiest nights of my life.  You're a hypocrite, because, honestly, you require people to wear facemasks at all of your shows, but at the same time you came over to my private area, my private space, without your mask."

Laboy says he plans to file a police report against one of Chappelle's friends for trying to take his phone as he was recording them.

Laboy and his group were escorted out of the Four Seasons by the police and banned from the hotel for a year.
