DJ Paul said it wouldn't be a big deal if Tekashi 6ix9ine started an East Coast, West Coast rap war, which some believe he may be in the process of doing.
"Nah, it ain't as big these days 'cause they (Biggie and 2Pac) opened the doors for it," he said. "Right now you kind of expect it, but back then it was the first one and you was like 'Oh, shit. I didn't know this was serious, this was really going to go down like this.' I'm sure it'll get real, I'm just saying it's not a big deal these days as back then, 'cause back then was the first one."
Paul then called Tekashi a genius.
"I think he's the smartest dude in the music industry," he said. "The way he markets himself, no record label could have come up with that. He's basically saying, 'I'm going to start shit with everyone around this motherfucker.' It's a real genius move, and he got good music to go with it."
Paul's comments on an East Coast, West Coast beef come after there was a shooting at Tekashi's recent post-conviction party that police say could lead to the two coasts going at it.
