Drake defended himself against Yasiin Bey, aka Mos Def, who said that his music is pop and not Hip Hop.

"Drake is pop to me," said Bey last week while speaking to The Cutting Room Floor. "In a sense, like, if I was in Target in Houston and I heard a Drake song it feels like it's compatible with shopping.  Or as you know, shopping with an edge, in certain instances ...  It's likable ... So many products.  Look at all these SKUs.  I love this mall.  This is great. The new Drake?  Do you hear it?"

The Take Care rapper responded on Instagram by posting an old clip of Method Man talking about Hip Hop.

"Hip Hop is a culture. It’s a way of life, the way you dress, the way you talk, the way you walk. It’s the breakdancing, rhymes, stage show, DJ, mixing and scratching, the wordplay. That’s Hip Hop," said the Wu-Tang legend.

So, through Meth, it seems that Drake is saying that other elements he possesses make him Hip Hop, even if some people categorize his music as pop.

He included his own words in the post as well.

"What umi say again? Lemme shine my light king don’t change up now," wrote Drake, naming Bey's 1999 song "Umi Says" off his brilliant Black on Both Sides album.

What do you think about his response?
