J. Cole released a short documentary on Monday for his upcoming album The Off-Season, where the rapper implies that he's retiring from music after the LP comes out.

He made the implication to 21 Savage while explaining the meaning behind The Off-Season.

"That’s where The Warm Up came from," said Cole, mentioning his 2009 mixtape. "Every day I woke up, wrote verses, made beats. All that to say, The Off-Season was like the same concept. One more time before I leave, before I feel fulfilled in this game, let me try to reach new heights from a skill level standpoint.”

Update: Cole backed off the retirement talk a bit in an interview with Slam magazine.

“I’m super comfortable with the potential of being done with this sh*t,” he tells Slam. “But I’m never going to say, ‘Oh, this is my last album.’… Because I never know how I’m going to feel two years, three years, four years down the line, 10 years down the line, but please believe, I’m doing all this work for a reason. I’m doing all this work to be at peace with, ‘If I never did another album, I’m cool.’”
