Ja Rule Explains Why It's Important For Older Rappers To Keep Rapping

You've heard the saying: Rap music is a young person's sport.

That was certainly true at one point since the entire genre and all of its fans were young. But with Hip Hop celebrating its 50th anniversary, that saying could now be outdated.

Ja Rule, who's 47, feels that way and explained on Tamron Hall why it's important for older rappers to keep making music. The topic came up after Tamron brought up André 3000 saying at 48, he's too old to spit.

"For me, I think Hip Hop is moving into that stage like how Rock and Roll did when we grew up," said Ja. "This is the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop… Hip Hop is growing up, and I think it's time for artists in my age bracket to continue making music so we have those classic, you know, Hip Hop stations and those classic, you know, Hip Hop songs."
