Last week, we learned that Lil Wayne reached a settlement in his longstanding legal dispute with Birdman and Cash Money. In addition to the reported $10 million check Wayne received, it was said that he was released from Cash Money Records.
But during an interview on TRL, Cash Money artist Jacquees said that wasn't the case, and claimed Tunechi is still on the label.
“I just talked to Stunna the other day, he told me Wayne Cash Money,” Jacquees revealed. "He said everything good. He said ‘I’m finna get you Wayne on a song’ ... He with Cash Money."
This statement seems to contradict what Wayne's lawyer said after the settlement was reached, about how the rapper is now his own man. Some might say those words indicate that Wayne is free from his "daddy" Birdman.
"Per our settlement agreement, the matter has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties," said his lawyer. "In terms of the particulars, we’re prohibited legally from saying anything further. I can say that my client is happy. He is his own man, a man that owns his assets, his music and himself. At some point, Wayne will let his fans know what’s going to happen next.”
When Weezy does let his fans know what's next, he could well reveal that Birdman is still in the picture. They were spotted in the studio together after the settlement was announced.
Do you think Wayne is still on Cash Money, or is Jacquees just speaking Birdman-induced foolishness?
