Jeremy Lin is always having fun with his hair, embracing styles like the man bun, the bowl cut, braids and the Mohawk over his NBA career.
This year the Taiwanese-American Brooklyn Net is going with dreadlocks.
That didn't sit well with ex-Net Kenyon Martin. He jumped on IG and told the world that a man named Lin should never be caught rocking dreads.
"Do I need to remind this damn boy his last name Lin?" Martin said. "Like, come on, man. Let's stop it with these people. There is no way possible he would've made it on one of our teams with that bullshit on his head, man. Come on man, somebody need to tell him, like, 'alright bro, we get it. You wanna be black.' Like, we get it. But your last name is Lin. Alright.'"The ever-polite Lin responded to Martin in the comment section, and had a pretty good comeback for the retired player.
Kenyon Martin on @JLin7’s hair. And Jeremy’s response. I would’ve responded way differently... thanks J for your class and respect. Amazing pic.twitter.com/zZQDdNwyBu

"Hey man, it's all good. You definitely don't have to like my hair and definitely entitled to your opinion," Lin wrote. "Actually I legit grateful you sharin it TBH. At the end of the day, I appreciate that I have dreads and you have Chinese tattoos. I think its a sign of respect. And I think as minorities, the more that we appreciate each other's cultures, the more we influence mainstream society. Thanks for everything you did for the Nets and hoops ... had your poster up on my wall growin up."Who do you think won that round?
