Earlier this year, we learned that University of Kentucky basketball was forced to self-report an NCAA violation because Wildcat superfan Drake granted one of UK's players backstage access at one of his shows.
At the time, it was speculated that the player was star guard Tyler Ulis, who posted a picture of himself with Drake after Drizzy played a show in Chicago.
SEC County has just confirmed that information in their list of all the violations the UK athletic program accumulated in 2015-2016.
Level III (non-suspension) violation: A violation of “preferential treatment” occurred when a UK player attended a Drake concert after-party and a member of the famous rapper’s management team recognized the player and invited him back to say hello. UK compliance discovered it after the athlete – whose name is redacted – posted a photo on social media. Tyler Ulis, UK’s started point guard at the time, posted a photo with Drake on Instagram the night of the concert, May 29, 2015, in his hometown of Chicago.A Level III violation is the next-to-least serious violation. Ulis was suspended briefly and then reinstated for the start of the 2015 -2016 season. He was a second round pick of the Phoenix Suns in the 2016 NBA Draft.
In 2014, Drake cost UK basketball another Level III violation for posing for a photo with a potential recruit
