Larry Hoover, the co-founder of the Chicago street gang Gangsta Disciples, was sentenced to 200 years for a 1973 murder, and in 1997, received a life sentence.

Today, Hoover is sitting in ADX Florence prison in Florence, Colorado.

At one point, Kanye West sat down with President Donald Trump, and asked for a pardon for Hoover, but that didn't happen.

Then, Drake showed his support through a benefit concert, but that wasn't enough, and eventually, J Prince and Wack 100 got into it over the 71-year old gang leader.

Today, Hoover renounced his leadership and involvement with the gang that he co-founded.

Hoover says he is...

"No longer the Larry Hoover people sometimes talk about, or he who is written about in the papers, or the crime figure described by the government."

He went on to say...

"Regardless, these people are apart from me and do what they do with zero encouragement or direction from me... To be clear, if I had any ability to influence them, I’d ask that they’d forget me and forsake the gang life forever. I have long since renounced my association with any and all criminal organizations and their membership. I am no longer a member, leader, or even an elder statesman of the Gangster Disciples. I want nothing to do with it now and forever.”

This was shocking news to a lot of people, but Hoover may be feeling like the other methods have not been successful to get him out, and this may be the beat or only way.

Of course, Wack 100 got wind of this, and had to add in his two cents.
