Michael K. Williams, whose portrayal of Omar on The Wire made him famous, was found dead in his Williamsburg Brooklyn apartment this afternoon
He was 54.
Police sources tell the New York Post that heroin was on his kitchen table.
Williams's nephew found him.
“I found the body,” said a weeping man at the scene, talking into his cell phone
In addition to The Wire, Williams starred in Boardwalk Empire and Lovecraft Country.
He has a history of drug addiction.
