Houston rapper Montana22 (Emanuel Solomon) was killed earlier this week trying to shield his girlfriend's 11-year-old son from gunfire in the parking lot of the Old Farm Road apartment complex in the city's Mid West neighborhood.

Police say three armed men were waiting in the complex before the opened fire.  After they did, they fled in a black Pontiac sedan.

Police have yet to make an arrest and our reviewing surveillance footage.  The boy, Dominic Sumicek, was taken to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday

Montana22 was 41. RIP to both.
