In a segment with Shazam titled Songs That Changed My Life, Ne-Yo talked about the tracks which have affected him over the years. The 32-year old's earliest memory is of Billy Ocean's 'Suddenly' (an amazing record, btw), and how he cried as a kid hearing it.
Ne-Yo also revealed that he passed on the instrumental that became Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' -- the song that ran the summer of 2013 -- because he couldn't hear the appeal in it. He describes trying to work with Pharrell and find the middle ground between R&B and a more uptempo style record. Pretty interesting to know. What do you think would have become of the song if he had decided to take it?
Ne-Yo's Non-Fiction is out January 28.
