Super Bowl Halftime Show Producer Clarifies Who Picks The Act

Since JAY-Z chose Kendrick Lamar over hometown boy Lil Wayne for this season's Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans, the hip-hop world has debated the selection.

While a few rap figures have defended the pick, the majority opinion has been that Hov erred in snubbing Weezy.

Hov hasn't involved himself in the discussion, leading to speculation that he isn't the only one who makes the selection.

Super Bowl Halftime Show producer Jesse Collins cleared that up during a chat with Variety, confirming he is.

“It's a decision Jay makes," he said.  "Since we’ve been on board with that show, he’s made it every year, and it’s been amazing. He’s always picked right!”

Hov and Roc Nation got involved with the halftime show in 2019.
