Pharrell and Chad Hugo have been feuding over the Neptune name
It's taken a toll on their relationship
When the Hollywood Reporter asked if he was on speaking terms with Hugo, he said that he wasn't.
"No. But I love him, and I always wish him the absolute best, and I’m very grateful for our time together," Pharrell said.
Despite the falling out, Hugo will appear as the [Lego version] of himself in the upcoming Lego movie about Pharrell's life.
Earlier this year, Hugo's legal team called Pharrell out for "fraudulently" trying to take sole control of the "Neptune" name.
Throughout their over thirty year history, [Hugo] and Williams agreed to, and in fact, have divided all assets. By ignoring and excluding [Hugo] from the any and all applications filed by applicant for the mark ‘The Neptunes,’ applicant has committed fraud in securing the trademarks and acted in bad faith," Attorney Kenneth D. Freundlich wrote in a filing.
At the time, Pharrell called it a "misunderstanding." It looks like they haven't cleared it up yet.
