Remember when JAY-Z declared the "Death of Autotune" in 2009?

T-Pain certainly does.

And why wouldn't he, Hov said T's name in the track.

“You n*ggas singin’ too much/Get back to rap, you T-Painin’ too much,” Jay spit.

During his stop on Drink Champs, T-Pain admitted he felt a way about being called out, and about having autotune dissed.  [Jump to 15 minutes.]

“Of course! A wise man once said, ‘You can’t knock the hustle. I’m the face of this. Just like Lil Yachty was the face of mumble rap—anytime somebody talk about mumble rap, Lil Yachty was the first person to come up. I was the face of Autotune. Anytime somebody said, ‘Autotune,’ I’m the face. So, when you say Autotune is wack, I’m the face," he said.  I woulda said f*cking blue Yankees are terrible, everybody woulda been like, ‘Oh you dissin’ Jay-Z now?’ … Anytime Jay says something is wack, it’s trash.”

JAY-Z has always made it clear he wasn't coming for T-Pain, the talented originator, but rather the many T-Pain knockoffs at the time.

But you can't blame T for not seeing it that way.
