Tonight's Law & Order Episode Inspired By Ray Rice and Jay-Z Elevator Incidents

The last thing Jay-Z wants is to be lumped in with Ray Rice. But there will be elements of both stars' elevator troubles in the latest "ripped from the headlines" episode of Law & Order: SVV, which air tonight on NBC.

Of course in Ray Rice's case he was clocking a woman -- just about the biggest no-no there is -- whereas Jigga Man was on the business end of his inter-gender elevator spat, getting used as a punching bag by sister-in-law Solange for reasons still not entirely clear.

Tonight's SUV episode will feature a basketball star who is accused of rape by one of his employees, with a security camera in an elevator providing the potential evidence.

According to showrunner Warren Leight, they wanted to explore how ambiguous scandals can be when there's no audio and only raw camera footage. Leight also said the show is trying to keep up to speed with how information leaks; on tonight's episode the footage will be discovered by "LMZ", which is their stand in for TMZ.

He also said they want to do a Donald Sterling-inspired episode later this season. So that should be fun, and a boon to an elderly actor with a bloated face.
