In an interview with Tim Westwood, Tory Lanez made a comp between Tekashi 6ix9ine and Tupac Shakur that is sure to rankle the old heads.

"It kinda reminds me of, like, Bobby Shmurda," Tory said of Tekashi 6ix9ine's predicament. "But Bobby Shmurda didn't even get to go as far. For somebody to go that far, you got Kanye, Nicki Minaj, your album's dropping. It's like, the only nigga who had shit like that popping was Tupac. When Tupac was in jail he dropped the biggest album. Not to say it was the biggest album of all fucking time, but it was a pretty big moment. It's sad he's gotta be locked up during it, is all I'm saying."

Is Tory Lanez right to compare the incarcerated 6ix9ine's new album Dummy Boy to 2Pac's Me Against The World, which dropped when Pac was locked up?

Well, sort of.

Dummy Boy did about 68K in its first week. Which was really only 2.5 days since the album dropped on a Tuesday afternoon. If it had the full week, the project would have posted a low six-figures opening. In 1995, Me Against The World did 240K first week, which is pretty comparable to what 6ix9ine would have done in a full week now.

On the other hand, Me Against The World has gone on to sell about four million copies domestically. We tend to doubt Dummy Boy will ever approach those numbers.
