We learned earlier this week that Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth had got himself a boat and was rescuing folks in his hometown who had been affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Trae decided to go hero because he had been rescued himself.
"I felt helpless yesterday when I had to be rescued, so I know that feeling,” Trae explained in an interview with Fox 26.Among those he helped out of the flood waters was NBA player Jonathan Simmons, who's from Houston and still lives there.
“Trae tha Truth, the rapper, is from Houston and we know a mutual friend from San Antonio. They brought a boat to Houston because (Trae) had to evacuate as well," Simmons, who moved from the Spurs to the Magic this offseason, explained. "They came and got (Trae) and then he came and got us right away. Luckily, I had a friend in the area who could help us out." "I’m also proud of how the city of Houston has come together to help one another,” he continued. “On the upside and the brighter side, there’s that seeing how people have been there to help one another.”[Related: Trae Tha Truth is boating around Houston saving people.]
