Jussie Smollett was released from a Chicago jail on Wednesday, March 16, and he'll remain free while his legal team works on his appeal.

Earlier this month, the disgraced actor and singer was sentenced to 150 days in county jail. He also got 30 months of probation and had to pay some huge fines. 

All of this is because Smollett was accused of lying to Chicago Police in 2019 about being attacked by racists.

He said that two men who wore MAGA hats beat him, poured bleach over his body, while hurling racial and homophobic epithets at him.

50 Cent commented on the former Empire star's sentence, and he also had something to say about his release.
