Akon Admits His Brother Abou Thiam Used to Perform As Him

Earlier this year, T-Pain dropped this nugget about Akon during a discussion with DJ Akademiks.

“N*gga's are looking for T-Pain to be on stage every week.  I don't have the time.  I came up with body doubles. I came up when Bu was doing shows for Akon.”

“No, stop it, that never happened," Ak shot back

“Are you that naive my n*gga," Teddy wondered. “These nigga was getting double the shows every motherfuckin’ month because Bou would go and lip synch shows for Akon. “You a trash fan if you ain’t already know that. This was happening in 2000. Bu would get on that stage and say he was Akon and lipsynced the motherf*ckin’ lyrics as much as he could, and they would pay for that sh*t every time. They couldn't do nothing. Put up pictures of Bu and Akon and say you wouldn't think Bu was Akon when he walked up on that stage if you heard Akon voice come out that speaker."

“Let me clear some things up so we all know,” he started. "Bu was my double. He was my double. This was before the internet. If you saw Abou in one place and you saw me, you couldn’t tell the difference."

According to Akon, they doubled up so they could double their money:

 “I was like, ‘Man, all this money I’m leaving on the table,’” he revealed. “We cannot leave all this money on the table.”
