So it ends up that crashing the stage during someone's award acceptance speech isn't just for rappers, actors can do it too.
Last night (Dec. 11), at the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards, Atlanta star Lakeith Stanfield went the Kanye West route and walked on stage when his show didn't receive the trophy for Best Comedy Series. Instead, it went to the HBO show Silicon Valley. (Although Atlanta star Donald Glover did win for Best Comedy Actor.)
"I wanna thank everybody for honoring us in this way," said Stanfield," sporting a yacht captain's hat. "We worked really hard on Silicon Valley, and here we are. Thank you."Silicon Valley's executive producer, who ended up accepting the award, seemed to think Stanfield was just a random stage-crasher and not anyone famous.
"I [have] no idea who that was," he said, with a perplexed look on his face. You can see the awkward, yet funny clip below, and if the non Hip Hop crowd didn't know who Stanfield was before last night, they sure know who he is now.
After the show, Stanfield volunteered his mental health status:
Not crazy
