Benny The Butcher Says Jay-Z Advised Him To Turn Down XXL Freshman Cover

Benny The Butcher sat down with KXNG Crooked on the rapper's Crook's Corner series and said Jay-Z told him not to be on the latest XXL Freshman cover.

“I was going to do it,” said Benny, who just inked a management deal with Jay's Roc Nation. “He told me not to do it … He made a big point. He let me know that when it’s [my] time, there ain’t gonna be no voting. I ain’t gonna have to share it ... I always wanted to be on that sh*t. I was like, ‘I told these people no. What is happening in my life?'”

Benny also said the 4:44 maker told a story about something that happened to him back in the day.

“He told me about a situation where somebody turned something down and showed him that it’s okay to be you and take the work that you’re comfortable with for your brand."
