Big Sean addressed his perceived beef with Kendrick Lamar on Joe Budden's show Pull Up.
Sean said it was all just a big misunderstanding. [Jump to the 1-hour 29-minute mark.]
"After Nipsey died it was important to connect with Kendrick. Me and Kendrick have a history of songs. Obviously "Contol". Kendrick been to my house. I've been to his momma's house in Compton. Me and him have a relationship as peers. So when the Big Sean Kendrick beef was going on it something I wish I spoke up on because there was nothing there," Sean said, and then addressed Budden. "You were one of the main people pushing the narrative. I can't even fault for that."
Sean went on to say that people may have misconstrued his "No Interviews" freestyle as a Kendrick diss because he spoke on people who rap fast. Sean said it wasn't, but he didn't want to put any energy into disputing what the Internet was saying. But then Kendrick seemingly took things up a notch.
"Kendrick dropped a freestyle, and people said 'oh, it's about Sean.' I remember hearing it, and I'm like OK. So I immediately hit up [TDE boss] Top [Dawg]. And they like 'it ain't about you. It ain't about you in the least'. Don't listen to the Internet. So I don't even got to reach out to Kendrick," Sean explained.
Sean added that he was miffed that people like Budden didn't just call him to ask what is really going on and that all the misinformation led to a weird tension between him and Kendrick, which they eventually worked out.
Here's the (since deleted) Kendrick freestyle snippet that we believe Sean called TDE about:
“I think his false confidence got him inspired
I can’t make them respect you baby, it’s not my job
You’re finally famous for who you date, not how you rhyme (boi)
Cute a$$ raps, get your puberty up”
What do you think? It does sound like Kendrick was addressing Sean before Sean made the call.
This Kendrick and Big Sean situation got me dying
