Birdman Responds To Talk That He Dissed Lil Wayne At Essence Festival

Birdman spoke about that angry speech he gave at this year's Essence Festival that many assumed was aimed at Lil Wayne.

It was said the festival would include a Hot Boys reunion, but Wayne had his own set, separate from Birdman, who performed with Juvenile, B.G., and Mannie Fresh. 

"I swear to God on everything I love, and there is nothing more than I love than Miss Gladys.  I'd never let my city down, that be a pussy ass n*gga for nobody," said Birdman onstage.

But he denied dissing Wayne in a newly released interview, explaining that he knew Wayne would have his own set.

"I seen what n*ggas was talking about, 'Wayne ain’t wanna do this and do that' ... We always knew that Wayne was gonna have his own set," the Cash Money boss told Gregory "Geedy P" Earls. "Because me and Juvie and Geezy and Fresh, we rehearsed together every day and we had our own set together. But we all knew that Wayne was gonna have his own set. He was only a surprise guest."

Birdman followed that up by saying he would never diss the "A Milli" rapper.

"I ain’t got the heart to say nothing negative about Wayne," he explained. "I love my son, man. That wasn’t what that was about. What I meant by that is I ain’t gonna let this game play me. The game done played a lot of n*ggas. I ain’t never gonna be a pussy-ass n*gga to this industry and let them play me. I ain’t built like that, and I ain’t gonna let my city down by being a pussy-ass n*gga."
