Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel and 13 other members of the GS9 crew appeared at a pretrial hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court earlier today. They learned that their trial on counts of conspiracy, murder, assault, drugs and weapons charges will begin on June 25.
Coming into the hearing, Shmurda's lawyer Kenneth Montgomery said he didn't think there was any chance the judge would reduce the $2 million bond that both his client and Rebel had been hit with, and he turned out to be correct in that assessment.
When the hearing was over, Montgomery dismissed it as posturing.
"This is a show and [the prosecutors] have to justify the show," Montgomery told XXL. "At the trial we’ll see what this is really about."Shmurda and Rebel will remain in Riker's Island until then, baring an unforeseen benefactor stepping in and posting their bail.
Bobby's demeanor in court today was described as "resigned", whereas Rowdy was said to be in "higher spirits."
