Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Kanye West have had a fruitful professional relationship which stretches from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy to Ye and Kids See Ghost.
But it would seem the two won't be collaborating for a while, if ever again.
In an interview with Pitchfork, Vernon explained that politics have driven a wedge between the two.
Vernon and Kanye’s idea of how to run a highly collaborative recording session may be the same, but they have drifted apart in their politics. “I can’t really kick it with him anymore on a personal level, just the energy,” Vernon tells me, diplomatically. “But I’ve got mad love for him, and we’re still friends.”
Vernon added that he supports liberal democrats Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. Kanye is one of President Trump's only celebrity supporters.
Should artists let politics get between their art?
