Kanye West's breakthrough hit 'Through The Wire' sampled Chaka Khan 1985 smash "Through The Fire."
Chaka wishes it hadn't.
During an interview with VladTV, she explained how she let Ye use the sample, and then paid the price.
"It was one of the first situations of a rapper taking a chorus off of your original song, putting it onto their song. So I though it about, and was like 'you can't mess it up, because I will be singing it, after all it's my voice.' But he found a way. By golly, he found a way to frick that up ... I hated it," she said.
"It was an insult period," she said about him speeding her voice up. "I'm not doing that for money. I'm very upset with him. I'm through with him. I'm even through with 'Through The Fire."
What do you think? Did Ye do Chaka wrong?
