Up-and-coming emcee Taylor Bennett is Chance The Rapper's little brother. The 18-year old also allegedly has himself a criminally short temper.

On September 28, Bennett was at a college party in his hometown of Chicago. A man stepped on his shoe during the revelry and Bennett began beating the man, even though another guest had begun filming the altercation on his cellphone. 21-year old Jake Kalmin -- who is described on social media as Bennett's manager -- jumped in and joined his client in the beating.

The two men fled the party leaving the unidentified victim bleeding from the head. The victim suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. He continues to have slurred speech and headaches.

The victim's friends were able to use the cellphone video of the beating to eventually identify Bennett on social media. Bennett and Kalmin both turned themselves in last week and are being charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.  They are each being held on $75,000 bonds.

Bennett's father is also fairly well known in Chicago. Ken Bennett had been an aid for Barack Obama and is now Mayor Rahm Emanuel's Director of Public Engagement.

This is the first criminal charge against Bennett who, according to his Facebook page, is an advocate for violence awareness in Chicago.

Neither Bennett, his brother nor his father have commented on the arrest.  Although it is possible that sadness over his brother's behavior was part of what inspired Chance's latest track 'No Better Blues.'
