Drake's More Life has posted the biggest opening week of the year, moving 504,609 sales plus streaming, which was right in line with projections
Rick Ross's Rather You Than Me beat expectations a bit by doing 100,081 SPS in its opening frame. That wasn't enough to snag second on the album charts, as Ed Sheeran's Divide moved 113,975 in its second week.
But it's a nice bump up from Ross's last album: 2015’s Black Market did 65K first week SPS.
More Life, on the other hand, did about half of what Drake's VIEWS did first week in 2016.
But one medium More Life has VIEWS beat is streaming. It was spun a record 300 million times world wide on Apple Music over its first week, and is expected to be the first album to exceed 600 million first week worldwide spins on all streaming services.
Drake plans to release More Life as a physical CD next next week.
