Tory Lanez used Megan Thee Stallions' foot pain to promote his surprise album DayStar.  Machine Gun Kelly switched up genres from rap to punk-pop on Tickets To My Downfall.

Did their gambits work?

According to HitsDailyDouble, MGK's album will do 80-90k SPS, 40-45k albums first week, and will likely finish number one. Tory is headed for 40-50k, 2-3k.  Daystar is Lanez's first totally independent album, so he should actually make some pretty good bank with that.  The other big rap release of the week, Lil Wayne's Deluxe version of Carter V, is slated for 15-18k, 2-3k.
