Chris Webby And Stalley's Albums (Low)light A Slow Week For Hip Hop On The Charts

As expected, Christian rapper Trip Lee topped all new Hip Hop albums this week, with Rise moving 20,000 units, good for 17th overall on the album charts.

The other two notable Hip Hop debuts this week were debuts in all sense of the word; Mixtape artist Chris Webby's first studio album Chemically Imbalanced did a bit over 8000 units (42nd overall), and Stalley's maiden studio effort Ohio did a bit under 8000 (45th overall.)

Holdover T.I. moved 23,000 units (13th place) of Paperwork and Logic's Under Pressure did about 13,000 in second week sales, good for 29th.

These were all fairly soft numbers, as the entire music industry was sucked into Taylor Swift's 1989 vortex. Stalley's figures should be particularly disappointing since he had the  heft of Rick Ross's Maybach Music Group and Atlantic Records behind him.

There will be no big rap releases this week, but with Ross, Wu Tang, Nicki Minaj, Eminem and Lil Wayne all dropping albums before the end of the year, Hip Hop still has a chance to recover from what has been a brutal 2014.
