Court Rejects Emergency Motion To Release Meek Mill

This morning, Meek Mill's lawyers filed an emergency request to have Meek released on bail.

They argued that Judge Genece Brinkley, who sentenced Mill to two to four years for probation violations earlier this month, has improperly "refused" to respond to numerous attempts to get the appeals process rolling.

They've also been alleging Brinkley has a personal vendetta against Meek.

Unfortunately for Meek, this afternoon a Pennsylvania superior court has denied the emergency motion.

Meek's sentence has been criticized as excessive by his fans, other rappers, and advocates for social justice. Yesterday, Al Sharpton visited Meek in prison and declared he was a symbol of a criminal justice system that's out of control.

“I came because I feel that Meek represents thousands of people in Pennsylvania, and even tens of thousands around the country, that have been victimized by abusive probationary and parole systems,” Sharpton told reporters after meeting with Meek and his attorney, Joe Tacopina.

“If you can do this to a successful artist like Meek Mill, you can do this to many around the country,” Sharpton said. “He is representative of something far more than his stardom — he’s a symbol of the abuse of this system.”

Do you think Meek will end up serving his two to four?
