Philly D.A.'s Office Will No Longer Oppose Meek Mill's Release On Bail

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office won't fight Meek Mill on his motion to be granted bail as he appeals the 2 to 4 year sentence he was given for probation violations.

That means he will likely be home soon. (He's said he plans on moving from Philly to Atlanta when he's able to.)

The D.A.'s office filed documents Wednesday stating that there is a "strong showing of likelihood" that Meek's initial 2008 conviction on drugs and gun charges will be reversed due to a police corruption scandal in Philly.  Thus prosecutors see no reason for Meek to be held without bail

This comes the same day that a long article in Rolling Stone detailed the suspicious nature in which Meek was arrested and convicted a decade ago and the bizarre and vindictive behavior his judge Genece Brinkley has engaged in.

Meek's mom Kathy Williams celebrated the decision:

"I would like to thank the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office for carefully evaluating my son’s matter and not opposing the request for bail," she told TMZ. "The fact that Robert’s entire conviction could be overturned is a blessing and I pray that God gives Judge Brinkley the wisdom to make the right decision and allow my son to return home to his family. I truly believe justice will prevail.”
