Diggin' in the Crates Crew founder Diamond D has been around for a long time and has produced tracks for many a New York rapper.
In an interview with Big H, D pushed back when The Notorious B.I.G. was put up for a potential King Of New York.
“It’s hard to say only for the fact that Big gave us like two albums, some might say one and a half ... so how can someone be the best ever -- ever? --after only one and a half albums,” he said. “That’s not fair to a lot of artists. Big was a shooting star, he touched a lot of people, and a lot of people loved him. I loved the dude too, what he stood for ... but the best ever, that’s debatable for me.”
As for who is the best:
"You gotta go by era,” D said. “There are things JAY-Z stands for, and there are things that Melly Mel stands for, who was one of his influefnces, but someone 22 may be like, ‘Melly who?’ So That’s why I say you have to go by eras."
What do you think?
