DJ Akademiks is not a lawyer. But he's tight with Tekashi 6ix9ine.  So when he speaks on the incarcerated troll rapper's legal situation, it's worth taking a listen.

In a new video, Ak breaks down the plea deal 6ix9ine struck with the feds.

"He needs to be truthful, cooperate and testify in open court, if needed. Which means point n***** out, explains what n***** did, explain what he did," Ak said.

The "if needed" is key here. Ak went on to say it's entirely possible that everyone will plead guilty -- Tekashi's former manager Shotti just did -- and 6ix9ine will never have to testify in public.

If all of 6ix9ine's Tre3way co-defendants settle their cases before the end of the year, it will strengthen 6ix9ine's lawyers' plan to ask that 6ix9ine be released with time served when he's scheduled to appear in court on January 4, 2020. 6ix9ine was initially facing up to 47 years.

It's unclear if there is already an agreement between 6ix9ine's lawyers and prosecutors to give him that deal. (And a judge would still have to approve.) But Ak suggests there is something in the works.

"It's shocking that he might be getting out before Bobby Shmurda. And he got Fed charges that kinda seem more serious than Shmurda's," Ak concluded.

Shmurda is scheduled for release in late 2020 and will have served about six years.
