DJ Akademiks Explains Why 'Everyday Struggle' Was Never Profitable

Complex's Hip Hop chat show Everyday Struggle had some viral moments during its Joe Budden/DJ Akademiks days.

What it didn't have were any profits.

During a talk with DJ Vlad, Ak explained how Complex botched Everyday Struggle.

It was part of the media company's pivot to video, which saw them fire a good chunk of their writing staff.  However, they didn't understand how video -- especially YouTube monetization -- worked.

As such, they spent more money on production than they were able to cover, and couldn't find any sponsors to make up the difference and turn a profit.
