DJ Akademiks Explains Why His Boy Tekashi 6ix9ine's album flopped

The final first-week tally for Tekashi 6ix9ine's album TattleTales was 56K SPS, with 33K in traditional sales. 

The album flopped despite the best promo efforts of 6ix9ine's bestie DJ Akademiks.

This weekend, Ak took to Twitter and broke down why the album came in under what everyone thought it would put up.

Not gon lie.. it’s crazy that both Pop Smoke and Juice Wrld outsold 6ix9ine first week numbers. RIP to both men.

The sad state of affairs for 6ix9ine is that he’s effectively blackballed ... something that most thought was impossible in the Internet era.

He’s rubbed 99% of the ppl wit power in the culture the wrong way... shitted on those that eventually would need and isolated hella fans

6ix9ine might as well go independent, being on a label means nothing if you’re blackballed. All the strings they could pull for you are out of reach and can’t happen regardless.. so why be on a label?

False.. selling 56k first week and owning ur own masters... is equivalent to selling 500k first week on a label. Most artists ain’t seeing more than 15% of the money their music makes. 6ix9ine has also claimed he's been blackballed and podcasters like Gillie da Kid and Joe Budden have explained why they refused to put Tekashi on.
