DJ Akademiks is not a fan of the current crop of female rappers.
At all.
"Truth be told, I like Saweetie but Saweetie is like ventriloquist to me," Akademiks explained "Saweetie just sings over a sample of a song we already like...I get it, it works and it's easy but Saweetie is one of the people that benefit from the fact that she's really attractive, she's likable, she's dating one of the hottest rappers from a rap group [Quanvo] and, truth be told, she's making that simplistic music in the field of what women want to hear. Do I hear tremendous talent? No."
"The popular female rappers in 2020, the bar was this low," he continued. "Like truth be told, for all the male rappers, if they was on some Juwanna Mann sh*t and could like just trick the game and have like a big fat ass and people think they're a female and just wear like a ton of lace-fronts and wigs and throw on a sh*t ton of lipgloss"
He's also not impressed with Megan Thee Stallion.
"She got the Fashion Nova deal, she's a victim, she's on GQ, she's talking about Tory shot her, it's women empowerment, this is like 'protect Black women,' this is 'yo I got Beyonce,' there's a lot of sh*t going on. We not talking about like some real sh*t that's like just straight music."
There is one female rapper that does impress Ak.
"Meg probably isn't 100th of the talent that Nicki Minaj is. Nicki Minaj came in the game on some other sh*t. Nicki Minaj can stand toe to toe with any n*gga. That's the distinction I'm trying to make," he argued.
