New York City great DJ Big Kap has died at the age of 45.
His passing was announced by his friend and collaborator Funkmaster Flex. Kap made a name for himself performing with Flex in the 90s at the New York City nightclub The Tunnel. In 1999, the pair released an LP titled The Tunnel, which featured Jay Z, Mary J. Blige, Nas, Eminem, and Dr. Dre.
Kap was also a member of the NYC DJ collective The Flip Squad.
No cause of death has been released.
