On March 19th, the concert biopic 'Drake's Homecoming: The Lost Footage' comes to theaters for one night only.
The focus of the film wants you to know he had nothing do to with it.
The Drake Homecoming film is not something OVO or Drake have any part in. I feel it is my responsibility to inform and protect my fans. — Drizzy (@Drake) March 16, 2015
Additionally, a OVO rep has stated "[Drake has] no creative input into this unauthorized film project and it has nothing to do with OVO in any way."
The movie is produced by the father-and-son tandem of Rap-A-Lot CEO James "J" and Jas Prince, who have both been injecting themselves in Drake's Cash Money Young Money business lately. Here is how the film is described on its website:
This live sold out concert filmed at Toronto’s Sound Academy in 2009 just prior to Drake signing with Lil Wayne's Young Money was believed lost and destroyed. After its recent re-discovery, additional production footage was added to the concert film including interviews with James Prince and his son Jas Prince; the latter credited with the actual discovery of Drake. The much anticipated concert film includes the international smashes, "Best I Ever Had" and "Successful".In the film's trailer (below) Jas discloses what Lil Wayne first thought of a young Drake. "Wayne told me he sucked," Jas says. "He was like, 'Jas, don’t play me that shit no more. It’s no good.' Wayne’s change of heart was imminent."
The one-off movie will play in AMC theaters around North America on Thursday. Get tickets to the unauthorized film here.
