The beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake just took an unprecedented twist.

Drake is suing both Spotify and Universal in a Manhattan court for artificially promoting the popularity of Kendrick Lamar's Drake diss "Not Like Us."

He alleges UMG used bots, payola, and other methods to make "Not Like Us" popular, and Spotify went along.

The suit also says that employees loyal to Drake were fired to cover up UMG's actions, and UMG paid influencers and radio stations to boost Lamar’s song without disclosure.

According to the filing, a UMG whistleblower has already admitted that at least 30 million of the "Not Like Us's" early streams resulted from bots.

Drake is suing under the RICO Act, the New York State Deceptive Business Act, and the New York State False Advertising Act.

On the one hand, suing because you didn't like how rap beef turned out is a pretty slimy move.

On the other hand, if UMG did this, that wouldn't be good for Kendrick's legacy.
