Earlier this year, Emma Coronel Aispuro, the wife of El Chapo, was arrested for conspiracy to unlawfully import and distribute illegal drugs. She's also been accused of aiding El Chapo, who is serving life in a supermax prison in the United States, in his two successful attempts to break out of Mexican jails.
There was talk she was prepared to work with the Feds.
It's unclear if she did, but today Aispuro was given a three years sentence after pleading guilty to money laundering and conspiracy to distribute cocaine, meth, heroin and marijuana.
That's a lot less than the ten years one would typically get for copping to such crimes and less than the four years prosecutors asked for.
She also get for years of supervised release and a forfeiture judgment of $1,499,970 representing proceeds of and property she gained from her crimes.
