Eve had a good run as The First Lady of The Ruff Ryders.
So did so despite a harsh warning from JAY-Z.
As detailed in her new memoir, she received a call from Hov in 1999 after she released her debut album, Let There Be Eve... The Ruff Ryders First Lady.
He congratulated her and then warned her not to get her hopes up because female rappers "don't really do that well."

The album opened number one with a 213K and went double platinum.
Her next two albums weren't quite as successful, but they did have six-figure first weeks and garnered Billboard plaques.
